THE ROYAL RESORTS GROUP

In 1974 the founders of Royal Resorts decided: "To build a vacation home that they themselves would like to own and to sell it in a way that they themselves would like to be sold." A Cancun pioneer, Royal Resorts started on this premise and is still guided by it today.

In 1977, construction began on the company's first resort Club Internacional de Cancun. The Royal Mayan opened in 1985, followed by The Royal Caribbean in 1988, The Royal Islander in 1993 and The Royal Sands & Spa in 2000. In 2006, Royal Resorts opened its first resort in the Riviera Maya, The Royal Haciendas, which is located in the Grand Coral beach and golf resort community, five minutes from Playa del Carmen. 

Additional resorts were added to the Royal Resorts Caribbean Collection in 1997 (Pelican Resort in St Maarten - now Simpson Bay Resort & Marina) 2001 (The Royal Sea Aquarium Resort in Curacao), 2007 (Pelican Marina Residences in St. Maarten - Simpson Bay Resort & Marina) now The Villas at Simpson Bay Resort & Marina.
