Stayed here over 20 times in the last 15 years. The original building number one was a classic place. A main building with mini villas surrounding the pool. It is now closed for refurbishment. Building two opened up and is a 5 story T shaped structure with a pool. It appears to be a convention conference center. Rooms are ok, but have no charm. Building three AVOID at all costs. It's across from building 2 but it caters to tour groups from Asian countries. Loud, noisy door slamming guests at all hours. Forget about a good nights sleep. Building one front end staff was like old family to me. Building two has a lot of people with attitudes. Breakfasts in one and two are very good. Worth the extra expense. No free wifi.......come on Parco! Nearly every review is complaining about this. Forget about your surveys and just give it to your guests. TIP!! Make a reservation through the SPG website for this hotel and they will give you free wifi. They used to have FREE shuttle service to downtown Roma that pretty much left on the hour. Those days are gone. Now it's five euros and the schedule is 9, 10:45, 3:30, 5:45, 8:45 and 9:45. The returns are usually one hour after the departure. Not convenient anymore. This has become the deal breaker for me personally. I want to hang around the city on my terms and timetable and not be dependent on an irregularly scheduled bus service. Next time I'm staying in the city and I've already found a place. btw...from airport to Parco by taxi is €30 fixed and €50 fixed to city center.

point out that there is a difference between the building your are staying (there are 3 building). Building 1 has a swimming pool, building 2 is close to building one and oversees the golf court. Blg 3 is a just a bit apart and it has a busy road in between to bldg 2. Also blg 3, when I stayed had no dinner restaurant (had to walk over to bldg 2) and breakfast was a bit under the sheraton standard and under bldg 2. In short terms: try to stay to bldg 2 and 1 because you are having more facilities and better food. The restaurant in bld 2 is actually nice and with good food.
Another interesting thing, in bldg 3, there is no coffee or tea in room. Apparently, a note said so, it was required by fire prevention law.
Buildings one and two are beautifully gardened.

The nearest Metro station is approximately 2 Kms away from the hotel, which is very much walkable
ReplyDeleteHaving been here before I specifically requested to reside in building 2 on my reservation but they plonked me in building 1 (you have to take a shuttle between buildings 1 and 2). After this I was put in a room a far walking distance from the lift (on a previous visit they also decided to put me in a different building on the highest floor in the furthest room). The room service menu is ridiculously limited and overpriced (€17 for a caprese salad) for which they add a €7 service charge. The tv remote was jammy and not user - friendly. Building 2 is clearly better than the others which are dated and appear neglected but staff will maintain they're the same. On a previous visit I had a ridiculous comedy of errors with my room including faulty tv, lighting and aircon. On the plus side the hotel is clean and hygienic and beds comfortable. Staff are also professional and courteous. The relative isolation of the location is taken advantage of by the pricing. Unless in building 2, I never feel fully relaxed here.

note that buildings 2 and 3 are 1km from building 1. There is a free shuttle on request. Food is really expensive, but there is a cinema with a few food shops near building 1.
ReplyDeleteThe hotel has 3 buildings, and buildings 2 and 3 are about 800 meters from building 1. Each building has a reception etc etc, but unless you know in advance which building your room is in you naturally arrive at building 1, which then means you need to get their shuttle bus to the other buildings. I was staying it building 2 which was modern and clean with a good restaurant and bar area. There was a DJ playing music in the bar area, but unlike a lot of hotels that try this it worked as he was playing some good tunes and the volume allowed you to have a conversation without having to shout at each other. We had dinner in the restaurant (I can't remember its name) in building 2 which was very pleasant. From what I could make out if you wanted to take advantage of the attached golf course you would be better off in building 1. There also appeared to be a lot of flight crews staying overnight at building 2 which looked as if it could make checking out a little longer if you got to reception at the same time as they did. Taxi from the airport was €30 and to and from Fiera di Roma varied between €17 and €30 depending on the time of day.

in a five minute’s walk you can reach “The Village” which offers restaurants, pizzerias, cinemas, penny arcades, a book shop, souvenirs, etc.
